To judge if the RE4 remake is better or worse than the original you obviously must have played both games, it's sad that i must say this but as dumb as people are these days there's lot's of fanboys who will happily suck on whatever garbage capcom or any other game devleoper throws at them and defend the garbage even without knowing the original game.

I have played the original and the demo.
Besides the silly camera movement from the original, the game was amazing, it was lot of fun to play, the graphics are also good with the mod from nexus.
The atmosphere was good, story was good, voice acting was good, gameplay was good.

I've now just finished the RE4 chainsaw demo and it was really bad, no fun.
They changed alot of details from the original that would have been welcome to see again.
The FOV is so bad that you get motionsick, really dumb not to have a FOV slider.
First detail that changed to the worse, the starting area with the house.
It's very smal and combined with the extremely low FOV i'm even having a hard time seeing anything and moving around, i had many hopes for this remake, but the demo was just bad.
In the original you killed the first enemy in the house, it was like a first scare.
Now in the remake leon does it for you. Didn't like that.
Then when you make it to the village and pull out the device to zoom in, the original game had a little forest and some trees, you where hiding behind a tree while using that zoom device, now in the remake there are no trees just unrealistic placed rocks that don't make any sense.
Voice acting is also really cringe. The first thing leon said after killing the first enemy was "it's not fun anymore" hmm i didn't knew at which point it was fun to begin with.
This dialogue just seems like mindless stereotype blablabla that actually ruins the game because it sounds so ridiculous.

Capcom rushed this remake, should have taken more time to make a great game like RE2R but it seems they are just after the money, because there will always be lot's of dumb fanboys who will buy the game for 60 euro on release no matter how bad it is they will buy it anyways, that's how capcom and other game devs get away with garbage, because in modern society garbage is accepted and even defended.
I'm not saying RE4R is completely bad, i have only played the demo not the full game but the first impression already tells alot about this remake.

When Leon “kills” first villager it shows you can parry and kick and later when plagas comes to basement it also shows not everything who is down on the ground will be dead. Idk pretty “standard” sequences to teach/show for things to come. Tho since its different vs og i guess its bad and childhood ruined or something.

Yeah voice lines in og was so serious and not cringe at all…

i agree, remake is not as good as og. I don't get people who think if you like an original better then the remake, they think you just don't like different or new things. I have some news, new doesn't always mean better, and different isn't always better. Change=Change, different=different, new=new, and as far as better or worse goes, that is determined by the quality of the product, and not the amount of things changed, or how "new" it is

RE4 was always lighthearted and cringe at times, that was the charm of the game.

The whole game wasn't taking itself super serious and you could see that in many of the cutscenes or dialogue when fighting enemies.

Lets not make RE4 what it is NOT just because we all have a nostalgia boner.

The game was great and will always be, the remake simply changes things up, throws some new looks on it and modernizes it. If you don't like it, cool but acting like OG RE4 was this super serious thing without any flaws is just stupid.

Personally I'm in the "make the lighting and textures better and leave the rest of the stuff the ♥♥♥♥ alone" camp when it comes to remakes. Improving the controls and other game mechanics if they're sorely lacking is acceptable.

But if you are going to pointlessly change other elements of the game for "modern audiences" at least have an option to turn them off and put it back to original glory.

I don't even care about the ballistics stuff, I thought it was cringe even back in 05, but it's the principle that matters. You can't be nostalgic about something that got violated by bowdlerization, it just doesn't work that way.

Otherwise we'll just use an emulator for the original, sorry, not sorry.

Not buying this and sticking to my guns, hopefully enough people make a dent, so it doesn't compare as well to 2's remake in sales. However given how mindless people can be, I expect not, unless refunds are used.

What you have just described is a remaster, not a remake. There is a difference.
