Honestly preloading is never worth it IMO. It takes ages to decrypt the files, whereas you can just start the download when the game is released and probably start playing sooner.

So long as the preload doesn't ♥♥♥♥ up like it does sometimes it can be much faster to decrypt for some of us. I have an M.2 SSD, it wouldn't take me long to decrypt. It would however probably take a day to download if I'm lucky.

Edit: If people wanna look at preloads messing up. The Dead Space Remake had it's preload botched. Many people had to redownload the game instead when it went live.

It did that for a lot of people. It can no longer do it now because preloading is no longer possible.

Unfortunately lots of places in first world countries have ISP monopolies. I got canadian internet, in a rural area. My ISP choices have always been worse than what can legally be called highspeed internet.

Heck, my government voted in a bill a while back in that stopped ISP companies from throttling most forms of internet service. All my ISP did was just stop selling unlimited packages that they throttled and started charging costumers insane overage fees if they use more than a few GBs a month.

Village didn't get a preload if I recall because some people abused the demo preload and got into it a couple hours early. Capcom basically told us to ♥♥♥♥ off because of it and didn't provide a preload for the full game. It'll probably be similar for RE4.

Yeah, consoles still got a preload for Village. They just left PC players behind.
