Reviews are out, confirms what was apparent from the demo

tl;dr - controls are bad, story is worse than the original, voice acting is a lot worse.

As a game it's not terrible but as an RE4 remake it falls well short. Lacking a lot of content of the original and lacks the same magic. It doesn't need to exist. At least the RE2 and RE3 remakes were of ancient 2D games so there was some logic in remaking them.

I wasn't referring to how the Spanish sounds. Although for what it's worth, the delivery of the Spanish doesn't sound as impactful or memorable as it did in the original, to my English-language ears. But I was mostly referring to the English language acting of Leon.

Yeah, but I should trust... ahem... ELIJAH BEAHM, from dualshockers, that says and I quote:

"... The solution? Slap yellow onto important things like it's an Uncharted game. It works, but it also leaves me wondering why so much visual noise was necessary. The original's barrels and crates are here, but many of them are non-interactive background material, while the only ones worth engaging with have a literal "X marks the spot" of yellow on them. You used to just be able to tell the difference.".

Yeah, in the original all crates were shiny like the sun, you could see from a mile and every interactible item was flashing in the screen. But oh no you cant place yellow tape on crates.

Man, just wake up.

So to me that means I hope the highest difficulty is not utterly imbalanced crap. Health management with Ashley to me is a key part of what makes RE 4 the game it is, just dropping that outright is not what I'm looking for in a RE 4 remake.

They've probably done it as a trade off. From what I've gathered you can't just hide her in the trash anymore, so she'd probably get injured a lot more. But yeah, I wonder how that would play on normal vs hard difficulty.

1-Controls are bad,. How?
On PC they were just perfect both on K&M and with a controller.

2- story is worse. How? You got facts there or just little opinions because they removed the Ballistics line?

3- Voice acting is a lot worse. Again, what fact is there? Leon's VA was just great. Hunnigan's as well. Ashley and Luis just the same. Sounds a lot like opinions there and no 'facts'. There's no confirmation of anything lmfao.

You really dont understand how bad the voice acting is right? vs the original from 2004....
I just can't anymore. Just consume.

Why is every opinion either massively liked or massively disliked and no middle ground. So which is it? Is it good or not? If only there was a single source of reviews that was always trustworthy and reliable, but even that is still subjective and depends very much on our own tastes. So maybe there could be a review site that categorises individual bullet points and based on our own profile of games we like and dislike, generates a reliable review that considers what we would enjoy or hate.

I never mentioned 'facts' because it's subjective - the reviewer gave their opinion, I gave mine, you have yours.

Regarding story, lots of things have been removed. The cable cars can no longer be ridden on. Separate Ways is entirely missing etc.

The voice acting is a critical thing. Think of your favourite movies with the best acting, and imagine those actors replaced by cheaper nobodies and ask yourself if the movies would be as good. You cut corners in important areas, the game will be worse for it.

The original is an incredible piece of art which was crafted into something just about perfect in every respect. Matching it, never mind beating it would be incredible. Clearly they didn't really try to match it, they just tried to remake it on the cheap, to cash in on the name again. It's what Capcom does these days.

Re controls, the movement and aiming are sluggish, there are de facto QTE events (despite Capcom saying there wouldn't be any) and the knife is breakable again like in RE2 which many people hated, me included. (I have played the demo on both Xbox Series and PC, with an Xbox controller. I think these games are better played with a controller and are designed that way. But the remake lacks the tight controls of RE4/5/6/Revelations as a third person shooter.)

There is no way RE4 remake can be worse than RE2 remake and RE3 so it will definitely be great. And we will get a VR version of this game too

Is there no other mechanic put into place for her to take cover or get to safety at all? That would suck, yeah... :O

I've read that review, and I do have an issue with that bit where they equate parrying and dodging to old RE4 QTEs, the logic is silly. Lots of games have parrying and dodging, and have done so for decades, the very essence of gaming is about pressing buttons in a timely manner so that would make almost every game nothing but QTEs by their logic. The old QTEs in RE4 had great big prompts appearing on screen and were compulsory if you wanted to progress, in this remake parrying is just one element of combat, I'm not saying it's perfect as I want to play the game properly myself when it comes out but I thought the author by dismissing it as a QTE felt a bit lazy
