Can you bind caps lock/numpad/remapped keys? If so, how..?
I have my caps lock remapped on my keyboard to numpad 9 and as a result, I can never bind it in any of the new RE games. I'm curious if the problem lies with the caps lock key, the numpad 9 key, or just the fact that it's remapped. Also, does anyone know if I can bypass this problem in the game files?

yeah it seems like we're in the minority here because I hear no one complaining about the fact that you can't use Caps Lock to bind anything in Capcom games, I hate that because for those of us that use ESDF instead of WASD it just won't feel natural like how other games allow for example; Overwatch at least lets you do that and Battlefield too, so it's annoying but yeah Im putting this here just incase someone in a year or 2 knows how to bypass this (I currently just use "A" to sprint (FML LMAO it's so strange).

Oh, totally forgot I made this post, but I found a pretty easy solution. Even though I already had my key rebound to numpad 9, apparently Insert is a valid key according to Capcom and just about every other game out there. So I just used Microsoft PowerToys to rebind my CapsLock key once more into Insert. Worked like a charm and it was extremely simple.

haha been a while since you posted so I get it but using "insert" just won't cut it for me because I use a 65% keyboard so it's not even there for me lol, glad you found a solution for yourself but If Im understanding it correctly; that won't work for me because insert is nowhere near my left pinky so i can use it to run

I'm sure you could find a workaround with your keyboard using Microsoft PowerToys. The app allows you to remap your keyboard keys very easily. Since I rebound the CapsLock key to Insert, whenever I hit CapsLock, my PC registers that as Insert, thereby working for any game keybinds. You can also remap stuff temporarily and just close the program whenever you aren't playing RE4. If you tinker around in the keybinds menu of RE4, I'm confident you can find one that works with your 65%; there even might be a way to still rebind CapsLock to Insert despite the keyboard not having it too, assuming you do some research or maybe use the on-screen keyboard.

thank you! I have good news and bad news though, good news is; When I first opened up power toys (got it from github) It worked when I put my caps lock as the ( ' ) symbol

Bad news is that when I opened up resident evil again, it stopped working (it said the same message that it first showed me before it worked too so I have a feeling that it could be a hint to why it doesn't anymore but it went as follows; "warning: the following keys have no assignments: Caps Lock"

Now I have no clue wth it means and it's pretty frustrating given that when I try replicating the same process with Overwatch, it works no problem when my caps lock is registered a the ( ' ) symbol in powertoys, it just seems to work whenever it wants to because I tried using powertoys for Bendy and the ink machine since it doesn't let you remap and so I changed my WASD to ESDF and it says the same message but only this time saying A and W don't have any assignments, it's so frustrating knowing that the solution is LITERALLY within my finger tips but it just refuses to work, Im trying my best to look around for a solution and understand what's going on but I can't find anything so that's why Im here writing this novel lol, I have nowhere else to go so please any ideas would be tremendously appreciated. :(

Could it be a setting within powertoys that's not allowing me to use the keybinds I want to in game? I should also mention that before I enter into the game, I test it out on search bars and it indeed does work, so Idk if it's Capcom going out of their way to refuse the use of the Caps Lock or what but yeah, I also tried sharp keys after a while of power toys not working and made sure the programs weren't running at the same time (another remapping program from github and got the same result)

I would first recommend looking for a tutorial on youtube on how to use PowerToys since that can definitely give better advice than me. Second, make sure that RE4 lets you use the keybind that you want to replace the CapsLock key with before doing any remapping. Third, I would make sure that the keys you are replacing are swapped with the keys that they are replaced with; this is because the error message seems to imply that every unbound key must be bound to something in order for the program to work. Fourth, make sure that PowerToys is running in your background taskbar (bottom right side of taskbar). Lastly, I would honestly recommend resetting everything to default on both apps and using the on-screen keyboard to rebind CapsLock to Insert and vice versa if all else fails, as I'm fairly certain that'll work. Hope this helps.

THANK YOU SO MUCH WOOOO, it turns out it was the third one that you mentioned, I needed to make my Caps Lock into (') and then make another one saying (') is Caps Lock ! I'll be trying that out for other games like I said Bendy and the ink machine but, yeah, you're awesome!!:)

AutoHotKey is a third party Windows program I use to rebind Caps Lock as the H key and then in game I set sprint to H.

It's f***ing stupid that Capcom won't allow us to use Caps Lock but I've long since stopped complaining. This is actually the first time I've seen anyone else talk about this. It's ridiculous that they require so many keys to play the game and leave out a very accessible key.

Oh I forgot the important part:

autohotkey.com. Download and install it.

Create the script file
capslock::h

Double click it before any Capcom game where you use Caps Lock.

Right click and Exit AutoHotKey from the tray icon when you're done.
