Its felt alot like a old school survival horror version of Left 4 Dead
I really don't see where you get the L4D feel from it other than being co-op with zombies.
The way the scenarios play out, i mean its not L4D but its the closest thing that comes to mind when trying to explain it as if i was explaining to someone who doesn't know Resident Evil Outbreak. Although some scenarios in that game are pretty much just normal resident evil.
Why are they trying with these weird games when they can just, literally, deliver a normal coop resident evil game like Outbreak you know?
Resident evil Outbreak is old school re in Co-op. The game is divided into short scenarios, but gameplay and puzzle elements are similar to old school RE.
Pretty simple to explain IMO. L4D doesn't come even close. Calling it L4D does it a disservice. not because L4D is bad, but IMO it's really misleading to even remotely compare outbreak to it.
Outbreak games were experimental and the mechanics were really clunky especially in the first one. Either people have really rose tinted glasses or they have never played outbreak games themselves and are just parroting other people who praise them. Releasing some sort of remaster and leaving the games mostly as is, would not work for modern day audience, the idea behind the games is fun, but in reality they feel somewhat unpolished and unfinished.
the scenarios are very different, some have are more centered around puzzles and others are more oriented around action, and some where in the middle.
It wasn't a perfect analogy tbh but ehh, who cares, its pretty much just old school resident evil with coop.
And yeah it was still not perfect, but still better than those last experiments they've made, Outbreak was really fun.
I think they are wary of doing bigger multiplayer games that aren't singleplayer/2 player co-op games because it hasn't really been very successful for them. Not even for just RE itself, they are always kinda making runs at them (Exoprimal is a new one) and they don't usually take off. Easier to do a cheap, half-assed multiplayer mode that maybe turns out okay (But never does), instead of building a big new multiplayer game. I feel like with how successful RE is right now, it would be crazy to not attempt a new outbreak.
