Del Lago on Pro is an utter pain
I own the game on Xbox, hence the lack of a mouse icon. I'm here because I just prefer Steam forums over Gamefaqs due to convenience.

for some damn reason I struggle way too much with Del Lago on professional. I saw a video that showcased someone killing it in a minute flat but I just can't replicate that, especially when I'm inferior with controller aim in huge comparison to mouse. it also doesn't help that they regenerate health on the next cycle.

usually I just let Lago guide me as I throw the harpoons in the first cycle and not turn/reposition to get other angles because hitting the mouth is too hard if it's not coming at you. after that, I start turning to avoid the obstacles, only to die on the third cycle or second.

I'm close to ripping my hair out. that boss fight is so damn dreadful for me to play against, but I want that S+.

am I the only one who struggles so bad with Del Lago? if it's so easy for you, how do you do it? hopefully other controller players can answer this since I'm stuck with controller myself.

Delago fight features health regeneration for the first 3 cycles.

1st cycle it regens 80% health
2nd cycle 60%, so on

After the 3rd cycle it no longer regens and just goes buck crazy. The key is to focus on getting him to that last stage and only shooting when you have a clear shot. Mostly focus on strafing strats to avoid being hit.

I play on the computer, on the keyboard and mouse. At the start i've struggled a little with that fishy bastard, but after some time i've memorized all his movements and how i should act to counter him. Then it became easy, and every time now i can kill him consistenly.
Observe his movements, he is not random, you can predict everything. After some training you will be eating him no time.

Being able to hit his mouth when he's coming to ram you is the most important part probably.

I see. 3rd cycle is the limit, then it becomes a game of simply surviving until then. can waste valuable minutes in a speedrun, but nonetheless helpful and more important saving IRL time by not putting yourself through the dread of repeating the fight relentlessly because of a lack of skill.

I'll try your strat next time. hopefully it will be way less of a headache than it usually is. thank you.

A tiny tip for the start of the fight, if you hold right, you can pelt him with 6-8 spears quite easily and then another few if you hold left after his first jump.

I had a little feeling that they weren't random after a few attempts but just wasn't sure. now I know this, studying the tuna ♥♥♥♥ will be easier. thank you friend.

yeah I heard it does 40% (more/flat) damage than a body shot, but I feel like after that is when the next cycle starts, then at that point the health comes back, so it feels like that shot feels pointless. I still go for it though, but it hardly feels like I'm making a dent.

that's another strat I can try, sure. usually holding left on the jump gets me snacked up when I don't often get hit when holding right on the jump instead. could be me going left too late, but it feels like going right has more momentum. idk, my brain is fried from playing that game all day so I could be BS'ing.

just finished hardcore getting the ashley armor and primal knife in one go, then this fat tuna bastard took my brain and cooked it well done.

playing it on professional as well and this oversized tuna killed me easily 10 times. as stated before, dodge and only shoot when clear to do so.

yeah this bossfight is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's long and boring but just hard enough to be a massive pain in the ass.
My strat for pro has been to play it safe, wear out its regen and focus on surviving/dodging debris, I found that trying to burst him always resulted in my death.
it's deceptively hard I agree.

yeah I ended up having to play it safe, too. slower and wastes more time but it's better that than ripping your hair out and wasting even more IRL time on the fight, so.
