And later on you can get another submachine gun that has better accuracy than the TMP.
As the Riot Shotgun and rifles are so absurdly good in the remake you want to emphasize them, with your pistol or alternatively SMG as your more mundane weapon when not wanting to use the other two. The sniper is great for killing multiple targets if you practice grouping and lining them up (even multiple headshots in a single bullet, but at worst you can do a body shot and take 3-5 guys down in 2-3 bullets, or 1 with a headshot). This makes the rifle, in particular, disgustingly efficient when used right. Meanwhile, the Riot Gun is great if you need immediate close range relief without worrying about aiming or to deal with special mobs if low on sniper ammo. It also has really good DPS due to its high dmg and fast fire rate for bosses as an alternative for bosses if you skew more towards Shotgun than Rifle (its actually better than Stingray for bosses, but worse than BAR aka Bolt-Action Rifle).
Consider trying to NOT use a scope on your rifles. Only equip a scope when you actually need to hit something far awy.
Use it only to tap heads to get them to stagger, then kick.
It's great against the knights and the sword-head-mutations too.
