1 - Disable Cloud Sync
2 - Go to folder mentioned above
3 - Delete the files you want out.
4 - Boot the game, play and make a save.
5 - Re-activate Cloud Sync
6 - DO NOT PRESS PLAY, inside Steam Library, there should be a button next to PLAY that say "File Conflict". Click this and select Local Files.

Thank you, Vagrant. It fixed the issue.
It's incredible that such a basic feature is absent from modern games.

Hi, what I did was after making a save ingame, I re-activated the cloud sync the quit to desktop. It should say cloud sync error. When you press play, there will be a window that will pop-up where you can see the Local Files option. hope this helps.
does this not work anymore I tried it while in-game and out
it just replaces it
classic capcom missing features

It works fine.

Turn off cloud save like Vagrant said.
just turning off cloud save doesn't work

First, ensure that the cloud save synchronization is disabled (by either going into Steam settings, then navigating to "Cloud" and disabling the first option or by right-clicking RE4, going into properties and disabling the option under General in there).

Then, go into the folder where Steam is located (C:/Programs (x86)/Steam by default) then into userdata/[your userdata] (you know if it's the right one if you then see a bunch of numbered folders)/2050650/remote/win64_save. This is where the game's save slots are located. Delete the dataXXXSlot.bin file (the numbers indicate which save slot in-game they are in) that you want and you're done.

If you want to enable cloud save sync afterwards though, then things might get complicated.
Not sure if there is any easier way, but the way I figured out to do it is to...
1. Open the game
2. Make another save in the slot you deleted
3. Close the game
4. Re-enable cloud save sync
5. Wait for your games to check their sync status (RE4 will then say it has a file conflict)
6. Click on that to open the cloud conflict notification
7. Delete the dataXXXSlot.bin file from the slot you saved in
8. Select to override the cloud save with your local save
this is explained better and worked

So in other words, follow the directions like vagrant said?
literally tried that lmao
there's more steps to it such as making a save in the slot you want etc.

This worked for me. Saving on the slot you want to keep doesn't work, you have to save on the one you delete.
