- difficulty is pretty much Assisted AI, translating into no challenge whatsover for those who tackled Professional already
- the only unlock is the Handcannon, making playing the mode pointless for those of us that already have it.
- Ada and Wesker cut and reserved for paid DLC
- Just 3 areas
I know I was voicing tons of criticisms about bullet spongy enemies here at the forums - and I'm actually happy I can roundkick after a single headshot. But the enemies are so anemic they barely even attack lol
That said I'm happy for the casual players, as this offers a cheesy way of getting the Handcannon and makes it so they no longer need 7 playthroughs to unlock everything.
So casuals and veterans will be able to be satisfied with both difficulty levels.
I think they will probably add different difficulties for each area, like in Village.
Right now there are only 3 maps and we don't have Wesker or Ada yet. I'll wait to play Mercenaries for now since I'm in the middle of my pro S+ run. I wonder if achievements and more rewards will come at a later time when the rest of the Mercenaries content is added. Might even get to see the P.R.L. 412 as a reward for doing all of it.
The Ada DLC is paid DLC?
Not really understanding the meaning by reading the surrounding context? That is your issue. I didn't say I wouldn't play it just for fun at any point. I said just for fun with a question mark. Then went on to say I just wanted more. Separate the two as separate points if that makes an opening for your sarcastic comment.
"It would be the first mercs mode where that is the only thing I wanted to play it for from the start." That is a point to be taken with just for fun comment. I have played them just for fun but I always wanted to play for fun and something more at first. Like an unlockable.
"I play for fun later. But start playing to unlock something I can only get from it!!!"
That was the second indicator I can play for fun.
So give your "Crazy concept." sarcastic line like I knew some nearly illiterate would. Not clever or relevant. I can expect them to provide more than just fun with mercs considering they gave it for all the other ones.
Ada and Wesker are missing and one less stage.
It's a bit disappointing that instead of receiving MORE, we get LESS. Hopefully they continue to add content later on, but we all know it will probably be paid. Also seriously? The unlockable is the handcannon? Great move for those who already own it. RIP the PRL I suppose, that would have been a fun addition and make S rank mercs worth it.
From the twitter link above
There is an update for Mercenaries plotted for closer to Separate Ways DLC release, which adds four more characters (Leon Mafia, Ada, Ada OG RE4 Dress, & Wesker), an additional stage & a new "Extreme" mode. For later!
I honestly find the mode not as satisfying as OG, because of the worse gunplay and delayed melee attacks. Guns have more recoil, more spread, slower rate of fire and reload speed. Any character that isn't Leon has huge delays in their melee attacks.
Take Luis's pipe attack for example, dude stands still for a solid second before he actually winds up his attack, then stands still for like a half second after, in which a chainsaw dude can instant-kill you before you can even move. This happened to me a lot with Hunk and Luis.
P.S.
This mercs only has one more character than the first merc mode. So not many.
