Take advantage of that, learn the knife. It'll save your skin and you'll get a lot more enjoyment out of the combat encounters.
and no, my pistol never killed as fast as my bolt action. bolt action always killed faster. also highly recommend getting the exclusive ticket ASAP (besides black attache case) and use it on the bolt action. 10 damage x3 on weakpoints is insane damage. you're dealing the same damage as magnum but with rifle ammo.
idk how far you are into the game, but you can buy the black attache case right after you kill del lago.
If you don't have any dps gun (Matilda, Striker, CQBR, TMP), you best make sure you get Broken Butterfly later when it comes with bundle discount. Your choice of loadout is fine against regular enemies but you need a dps lad to help you out versus elite enemies / boss battle.
Your recommendation was perfect. Ditching the Sniper for the TMP made Cabin about as easy as the Village intro. Think I'ma grab the Butterfly when it shows up later but for now, thanks
I didn't know that about the Knife and you've not only made my life easier but saved me a lot of resources, thank you so much
You're going to have a bad time if you don't have a rifle and you're depending on the Butterfly. Butterfly's accuracy is absolutely garbage in this game. SR M1903, shotgun, SG-09R, and Killer 7 carried me thru Hardcore twice over. I may eventually dip my toes into the LE5 but other than that, the starter guns are fine with the exception of the Killer 7
I recommend AGAINST killing enemies with the knife unless you have spare knives to burn. The ONLY way this works is if its the prompt for stabbing in side of head to prevent them from morphing when they're about to spawn plaga. Unless you want to waste excess money on this only do this when you feel you can spare the knife durability and upgrade knife durability to max, asap, and always swap to the smaller extra knives first to use them up (game does not auto do this...) and get your space back unless using them for bolts. Normal knife attacks do not prevent this transformation. You can tell if they're going to transform or not because they wriggle and make noise on the ground very clearly so there shouldn't be any accidental assumptions wasting spare shots... further there is the knife prompt I mentioned prior (unless not holding a usable knife at the time, storage/broken).
The Snipers are extremely powerful and arguably the best weapon class for efficiency in many cases, but they require being good enough at applying and aiming with them. The bolt action rifle (BAR) is the best, followed by the stingray semi-auto.
I'll just post a link to my write up about best weapon choices from another thread here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2050650/discussions/0/3823034248719378051/#c3823034248719540231
The thread also includes other people's thoughts. My main post about it is post #7.
Nah i don't recommend to use the ticket on kar98 (bolt-action sniper). Every sniper has the same perks(x3 DMG on weakpoint) in that case better to use the ticket on Stingray (semi-auto sniper). Hell i used the ticket for my USP (normal handgun) to get that juicy crit boost for the headshot cuz i never use other handgun.
Also, always knife the wiggly guys on the ground when possible and safe to do so. You're saving so much ammo, even if you have to pay to repair your knife more often.
The game doesn't always play like the original, once you get the new feel for it it'll get better. Ganados are generally more resistant and less easy to stagger, but on hardcore/pro you can take advantage of the sneak system. Whenever you get an enemy down, look for the twitching and rush to him for a knife takedown, it's generally better to knife them before they morph instead of wasting ammo.
If the RS doesn't one-shot the head plagas, you should upgrade damage (you should upgrade damage first on every weapon anyway). Also, if the RS doesn't one-shot the head plagas, don't fire another round, they're precious ; finish the plaga with handgun rounds or crossbow.
Also buy crossbow, no ammo problems with that thing
Pretty sure you're wrong, some things change with skill for sure, for example you never get ammo or herbs when you have them, but when you're low health and with nothing in your inventory it just drops from the sky at every chance. But I can't say I've ever seen enemies get triple health out of nowhere just from the game adjusting difficulty.
If you track how many shots you land, the damage needed to down every type of enemy seems consistent
