Is there much use for the TMP anymore?
In almost every situation I find the TMP useful, the other two guns in my attache can do the same job. It takes up a lot of space, ammo for it is not only scarce, but expensive. I only use it as a Big Game Hunter weapon thanks to it's massive DPS output but this entire time I could've just used either sniper for that or even have just kept an RPG handy in trade of the price that the TMP had cost me up to that point. It sucks bc I loved it in the original but here it seems lackluster on average, convenient at best.

In the OG it was THE speedrun weapon because of the one shot one stagger ♥♥♥♥. Here.. it's not as good but still fun. Given by the fact how weapons work in this game .. it's not optimal to use. Moving down a horde again, is still fun. Even if you are out of ammo after that.

TMP later gets outclassed by the LE5, which you get on the Island, its more accurate, but it reloads slower.

Submachine guns are mainly useful for crowd control due to how easy is to stun an enemy with it, while Shotgun could technically do the same, its better saved for rough situations or stronger enemies.

Never liked it in the OG. Don't like it in this one either. I love going for 100% accuracy, and the TMP screws that up. I find no use for it, other than an option for those who like a different play style.
Not really...I carried it for the first part of the game on hardcore and then gave it up for just pistol/shotgun/rifle. I guess it served me in the villa when overwhelmed with little room to move or aim.

It definitely lost a lot of its usefulness from the original, since it a lot more spread with no laser and the amount of shots to stagger is significantly increased on higher difficulties. It's still decent enough, but I don't think I would buy it and then have to use spinels to get its stock on top of it anymore.

SMGs have their uses on high population areas. Shotgun of course works as well, but since i prefer the riot gun a SMG is a handy backup.

Specifically the TMP becomes useless as soon as the MP5 is available, it is just better in every way.

Also, since i'm a monster, i actually use the assault rifle for combined sniping and rapid fire duty :steamhappy: Rifle ammo is in short supply though, so the MP5 remains useful.

I love the gun, it gets a lot of ammo and can be used as either a sudo pistol with burst fire or light crowd control against groups. I considered it though a jack of all trades but master at nothing type weapon.

I tried to implement it in my first Hardcore play through. It was really underwhelming even once I got the LE-5 I was not impressed. My next run I used pistol/shotty/rifle and it was so much better. Because Matilda exists either smgs are pointless or Matilda is the best smg in the game.

it's almost entirely based on your personal preference.

You see, there are two submachine guns in the game and both have its problems.

TMP has awful spread and recoil, making anything outside of short bursts with it non-viable, defeating the whole point of a spray-and-pray gun. It's woefully inefficient on ammo, and with the introduction of crafting system it now competes for resources with rifle ammo, let alone grenades like flashbangs - both being very useful throughout the game. Meanwhile whatever you can accomplish with a TMP you can also accomplish with a pistol.

And LE5 arrives some 30 minutes before the credits roll, at the point in the game where your pistol, shotgun and rifle are normally already maxed out and you don't need anything else. It could be a good gun to have fun with in NG+, but unfortunately most unlocks in the remake require a fresh save, so LE5 ends up being this weird gun we never really play with.

Cat Ears could really turn things around for smgs with infinite ammo, but in reality between Killer7 and Assault Rifle with the latter being a straight upgrade over TMP or LE5 in every regard there is simply no need to bother.
Idk why people slept on the TMP in this game, it's the best boss weapon and carried me through my first playthrough which was hardcore. When maxed it does 1.6 damage per shot which is great, and with the stock there's no recoil or bad spread. With the 2 smg ammo charms I probably made 2 thousand rounds. After I killed Saddler by dumping ammo into him I still had 250 bullets

Rifles were hardly any good in this game compared to OG where they did huge number damage. Shotguns did big boi damage in this game but ammo count was always kind of low. Pistol can be a godsend depending on what you pick. I chose sentinel 9 maxed out and it seemed every 3rd/4th enemy died to one headshot

The bloom in the remake plus the inconsistent stagger ruins the TMP, period. It was never good at damage, but it was great at accurately and quickly being able to stagger anything in the OG, that was its niche, which has been killed in two different ways.

Now that I 100%'d the game I've been experimenting with some modding and this mod makes the TMP really good with the stock:
https://www.nexusmods.com/residentevil42023/mods/254?tab=description

It makes it about as accurate as in the original (mod also enhances the Red9). It's still not that level of staggering power but at least the damage is now very good at range.

100% this.

Yeah, I never touched the TMP after my first run. It's now wildly inaccurate without the stock, plus it takes too much room with the stock when you still need the space. Having it dilutes the item pool by adding SMG ammo, splits the money you have to upgrade weapons and uses up Large resources.

I'm intrigued by the idea of setting up your whole run around it, though.

No, it isn't worth using at all.
