Still, even if you are using just the TMP its already so ludicrously good it completely displaces the entire "best pistol argument". The best pistol is not a pistol, its the SMGs. Just like in the OG, but for different reasons slightly, they completely outclass the pistol invalidating the use of the pistols.
This is because they're more efficient in terms of crafting and picked up ammo resources and also because the crafting is bugged I can confirm and gives bonus SMG ammo far more than other weapon crafting bonus to the extent it further boosts its already absurd ammo efficiency (literally, in my TMP only no other gun professional playthrough I'm at castle and have crafted like 15x, and 13-14x of those all gave bonus SMG ammo... with a single SMG crafting charm but even without it me and others noticed the bizarre bonus rate on SMG at the game's initial launch pretty much immediately).
The TMP is competent at headshots if you spray in shoot 2-3 bullets at a time, too, and also it might crit a lot (like potentially an absurd amount) but I need more testing to verify the crit issue.
Overall, I think the LE 5 is still better for most people though or you can swap between them depending on needs. Note: While I'm doing quite fine on my TMP only run I do recommend carrying at least 1 more weapon because, aside from the hyper ammo efficient Bolt Action Rifle, the game excessively drops ptas if you carry only one weapon so you have to craft more than I would like and a second gun (or three guns total) would help convert some of those wasted loot drops to ammo for guns that you would want. However, there is absolutely no reason to carry a pistol when SMGs exist as powerful as they are unless doing a minimalist run.
Chicago Typewriter is pretty overpowered with its infinite ammo no need to reload exclusive. It definitely trumps them.
LE5 is superior in term of much smaller unfocus aim reticle size, its suit for full automatic firing style. Combat distance is up to medium range. This gun max dps distance is moderate. I rate it as real intense battle weapon.
LE-5 is pretty much a direct upgrade to the TMP almost.

As for TMP in re4make being better than og re4, it totally depend on user knowledge. The combat system of re4make changed how TMP should approach enemies and creating lots of instant kill setup is what set it apart from og re4, where in og re4 TMP is just stagger monster while being economy.

The LE5 is like the Punisher where it's either a worse TMP or mogs every gun in it's category (against groups) entirely based around your positioning. It's a more mobile weapon which is informed by it's tighter aim spread and better shot grouping (at least on full auto) at mid range. Close range it REALLY depends on your personal player skill as enemies within melee range are getting hit in the face with every shot even at max TMP aim spread.
tl:dr
Depends on your playstyle.
For the chicago typewriter, it's really balanced around it's infinite ammo. Without that it is the hardest hitting machine gun by far but with the caveat that it's spread is insane. Not a problem when you're tossing an unlimited amount of bullets. A bit more so when you're burning through your ammo on misses.
Amazing stagger though.
