So where do you find ammo for...
The assault Rifle? I picked this up at the castle and have not found any ammo for it sense. Im at the Island just before the re-generators? Is this a new game plus focus weapon? It had exactly 20 bullets and that is all.

For the exactly 20 rounds I got to shoot with it it seemed strong but not being able to fire from the hip seems like a handicap.

In general ammo seems stingier in the remake then it was in the original, I have never once been abl;e to load my stricker with a full clip. But I dont understand the point of including the weapon in the game if they are going to give you nothing to fire with it. I found more magnum ammo and isnt magnum ammo supposed to be super rare?

How many weapons are you running around with? If you only have your striker and cqbr, you should be getting a lot more ammo drops for it.

I was just running with pistol striker Rifle, once I got to the Island I pulled the auslt rifle out of storage hoping I might actually find some ammo for it. Considering the size your case gets 4 guns didnt seem like over kill.

Is my loud out sub optimal for ammo spawns?

The CQBR Assault Rifle uses the same ammo as the two sniper rifles, that is to say Rifle ammo.
Would say it's just bad RNG that you aren't getting any as drops. Although there are some fixed spawns when facing the Regeneradors.

Had no idea it used regular rifle ammo. Yeash, I have been pumping all my gun powered into my shotty, thanks for the info everybody. Maybe I will try it out more on NG+

Game is stingy as hell with rifle ammo drops, atleast it was in my case. Also the CQBR pretty much chews through ammo tbh, i used the bolt action for the entire game and pulled out my old friend riot gun for stuff like regeneradors.
You could also try to get rifle crafting + charms and craft more ammo that way.
