Am I Supposed to Kill Everyone?
I just played 2 and 3 so I got used to saving ammo and running past meanies. The combat is different though in 4 and I'm really struggling to run away.

you don't always have to kill EVERYONE, but most of them, yes

don't worry, the game will almost always give you enough ammo

Thx. I just restarted and killed as many people as possible. I got stuck at one section because I didn't get enough points from killing enemies to buy any good guns at the shop.

The one of the rifles can come in handy, but you don't actually need any of the shop guns to beat the game.

Leon's starting pistol, the shotgun you can pick up during the village raid, and the rifle from the first merchant meeting is plenty.

Then again, so is just the starting pistol.

Unlike the first 3 RE games, this one is more of a action horror than horror survival. So you can go around and blast pretty much everyone if you want to. Still wouldn't recommend it though, but it is more forgiving than first 3 RE games.

For your first time playing, it's pretty straight forward. Use your pistol alot while building up your shotgun and rifle ammo.

Just make sure you and hitting heads and legs then follow up when the melee prompt pops up. As long as your making your shots count, the games gives you plenty of ammo and grenades/flashbangs.

You don't have to kill everyone, but you also have all the means to kill everyone. You will have a significantly easier time killing everyone and exploring on your first playthrough. If you want to actually be a semi decent speedrunner, then you'd probably be shotgunning and running past 90% of enemies.

Fun fact, the game will increase in difficulty if you complete an area without killing a single enemy. :)

No. But you should! It's just the systematic way. Be like a chicken, kill everything in the area that moves. Every bug, every rat, every dog, every mutant and every boss. It's the most fun way. It's the way i play, I even kill Ashly sometimes. Doesn't always happen right but it's fun trying.

Yes. Skill issue if you don't.
I recommend the bolt-thrower for infinite ammo.

Enemies should drop things and I think you can sneak up on them and do stealth kills. If its the same as the old RE4 , old RE4 had an alternating difficulty so if you struggled the game would help you by weakening the enemy and having fewer enemies present . If you were doing well , then the game would throw everything it has at you .
