What happens to the dog? Spoiler question

After the island explodes is the dog safe? If not Leon should of kept him by his side or at least in safe space to grab him after all is done.
The dog was awesome and helped out. Feels bad not to save him.

Assuming this isn't a troll post, it seems like people need to grow up and learn about what real suffering and injustice actually is rather than worrying about fictional animals in video games.
