What happens to the dog? Spoiler question

After the island explodes is the dog safe? If not Leon should of kept him by his side or at least in safe space to grab him after all is done.
The dog was awesome and helped out. Feels bad not to save him.

Leon should of came back for him. Like wtf. The dog helped him out and clearly needs help himself.

The dog, Hewie, winds up in a castle and ends up helping a girl. Originally it was just meant as a neat cameo of the same dog from Haunting Ground, another Capcom horror game that released around the same time as the original RE4. I assume it'd be the same here.

Great game well worth playing imo.

Capcom just confirmed that Leon goes back to the village after the game ( and of course returning Ashley to safety ) and adopts the wolf as a pet. Unfortunately Leon doesn't take him on missions so you won't be seeing him after the game. They mention that Leon recognizes it because of the bear trap marks are still seen in it's leg.
