It looks great, but nauseating
I have played most of the RE entries and really enjoy the recent 2 and 3 remakes as well as Village. But I could never play the original RE4 for too long (say 10 mins max) because it gave me a serious nausea and migraine. I was hoping this remake would fix that and that I would be able to finally see what the hype was all about. But from this demo, I can see that the nausea persists. It feels much like when I was playing the original.
I'm not sure what causes it. Is the action too hectic for the camera control scheme?
Or is it the enemies' distance from the camera and the fact that there are so many of them moving about simultaneously?
Game developent-wise, would increasing camera clipping plane help? Or perhaps backing the camera out a bit when the player is surrounded at close range.

I have similar issues with other games like Alien Isolation and a few FPS titles but most of which were caused by wobbly camera or a combination of that and field of view or object distance. Some but not all of those factors are present here.

Does anyone here have the same problem with this demo?

To me RE7 and Village have the worst FOV going, FPS needs a way wider FOV.

I cannot play RE7 for the same reason but Village has been kind to me, except in some areas like the factory stage with tight confined space and the wall itself swoops past the camera every time I turn.

Turn off motion blur and increase your FOV

they have options know in menu for motion sickness.

I don't think the motion sickness options are actually working. Things like camera wobble are turned off, but I cannot imagine how the camera could be any more wobbly than it is even so. There's also the lurching the camera does every time your character takes a step in any direction, that's a very unusual and incredibly uncomfortable feature in my opinion. (edit: I think the camera wobble option pertains to exactly this feature actually, so I can confirm it's always on even if it's set to off)

I don't get motion sick in pretty much any game, the only ones that do that to me usually are poorly implemented VR game situations, but THIS demo, not even in VR.... yikes. It's weird they went to the effort of having presets to help with motion sickness and also made sure everyone was aware of them, but they either do not work, or there's still so much excessive and random camera motion going on that it just doesn't matter.

It's possible the only reason that's one of the accessibility options is because playtesters have complained, but it clearly didn't get solved in time for the demo at least.

7 and Village's FOVs are utterly horrendous, cannot agree more

I actually felt what you describe till I put FOV all the way to the right.

I would recommend using a FOV mod for Village. I'm sure that RE4R will also have such a mod.

Does it affect the cutscenes for 7 like it seems to be the case with the RE 4 demo?
Or are there other ways to do that in the older REengine games by now?

It already does REframework, but watch the video and look at the small drawbacks yourself.

Thank you for everyone's suggestions. I have tried turning of the camera wobble, stabilizing the running camera, and widen the FOV as well as turning off lens distortion and chromatic aberration. I can say it's better and more tolerable but it's still enough to make me sick eventually. Perhaps I am more sensitive than most people. If nothing is done to improve this between now and the time of release, I guess this game is not for me.
I did not have any serious issue with Village though. (But 7 is a no-no for me.)
I only seen to get motion sickness in 1st person games, never 3rd person. Village made me feel sick quite a few times

Turn off motion blur always, it’s helps, that’s the worst effect to ever grace gaming

I had to use an FOV mod with Village - the default was absolutely nauseating. Apparently it was 81 which is staggering because it honestly feels about 65. I can't remember what I upped it to but it was closer to 100 without causing distortion.

Good thing is that a mod for RE4 will probably come out on release day.

May i ask what frame rate you play with? Whats your monitor? Resolution? Maybe post your system specs. Have you tried turning off motion blur? That being said some people are just prone to certain types of motion sickness. For me its camera wobble. But fast moving scenes that seem to mess with you might be a result of motion blur and your monitor could be the culprit. Especially if the pixel response is too low.

Also brightness/contrast can be a factor. Try fiddling w/ that. If freesync is enabled you may also be having issues with unstable frame rate. Locking the FR Can help.

Some games also do barrel distortion effects which can be hard to look at for some.
