Remake is disappointing.
Feels unpolished. Graphics are a big step down from RE2 remake.

Game feels incredibly linear and the walls they use to create the linear path you follow are ugly just a bunch of cluttered crap to look at as you travel along the path.

Art direction in general kinda sucks compared to the original. In the original there was a nice subtlety to everything and then just the nice outdoors but now the horror is just in your face you’ve got cult like decorations everywhere you go and there’s so much clutter everywhere.

The thing that was nice in the original is that for the whole early part of the game you’re almost not sure what’s wrong with the villagers whether or not they’re zombies of some sort or just a deranged cult but in this game there’s no mistaking that they are monsters of some sort they don’t even try to hide it.

Also, Capcom lied about there being no cut content. Already I’ve noticed that there is no woman pinned to the wall of the first small cabin you encounter in the very first section of the game. And in general that very starting section the world feels and looks smaller. The original game was linear but Atleast you could see into the distance all around you making the world feel real and large but now the path is so enclosed with walls of trees and other cluttered crap everywhere that it feels like a crash bandicoot game.

Art style feels more cartoony than RE2 remake character models look cheap. Shooting feels off there is no more crosshair shrinking mechanic. Action is faster pace than original in general and it no longer feels like a game of methodical precision shooting but more a game where you run around like a chicken with its head cut off from to avoid enemies rather than being able to effectively take them out.

I can go on and on but so far I think this REmake is pretty inferior to the original and I’m pretty shocked this is the product we’re getting after the incredibly polished RE2 remake this company gave us this remake feels like the opposite.

In some ways it actually feels like a step backwards from RE3 remake which already was a step down from RE2 remake and I think that’s what was most jarring to me was that there were ways in which RE3 remake feels more polished than this game.

I mean even some animations seem unfinished. Leon gets his eyes gouged out and his face is just blank the entire time there’s no scream no look of agony in his face. It just feels rushed

I’m shocked I really think that the RE engine is not as incredible as capcom
says it is. As soon as you throw more ai enemies at the player sacrifices need to be made in order to keep that franerate stable and that’s why the world feels so small and pathetic compared to the original.

The rest of us will gladly buy it at a high price. I can't believe nobody has said that yet. I'm so original with my references...

Criticism of video games has been a thing for quite some time. I love it too.

Yes there is.
Nope. Wrong. Try again.

The only thing that is streamlined is the PATH to the Village. No Cut Content means everything memorable in the original, gameplay sections, are still here. No one cares for the impaled woman in the shack.

The Village is bigger than the Original. They made the path to the village very linear on purpose. So you get there quick, you get up to speed what is wrong with these people, and what your objective is.

That too. There is that. There are even TIPS that tell you to wait to shrink for a critical shot.

Not trying to bait anybody. Just sharing my sincere disappointment as a big fan of the RE franchise.

I was really looking forward to this remake considering it felt like it was getting the same love and care that went into the RE2 remake.

That’s why it’s lacking quality has actually come as a bit of a shock to me.

That is as far as I got reading it. You know it's not worth your time when he front loaded with this insanity.

He should have led me into it a bit and save this line for much later in the text.

And IT IS getting the same love, and care as REmake2 did. EVEN MORE, since it's their biggest game yet. Bigger than Resident Evil 2 ever was.

There is nothing lacking in quality. Everything is an improvement.

I may be wrong. If the path to the village is the only part that feels smaller and the rest of it feels similar to the OG that will make up for the jarring starting section.

Maybe you’re right and it is just that very first section that feels so different and it’s skewing my opinion.

That first section really threw me off though… I definitely prefer the very opening section in the original game.

The village section itself did feel more similar to how it was in the Og

It's also developed by the same team and same director, as opposed to RE3 remake which was outsourced to another studio.

I kinda miss impaled village lady. There was a whole sub-plot of how there's some fighting among the zombies, maybe killing those who don't do what they're supposed to. But we miss out on that. And there was only one armed bear trap on the way. I probably would've missed it if I wasn't walking along like an old man checking out the details.

Skill issue spotted. Learn to shoot, melee is as effective as OG.
Oh and let me add to that. They didn't sacrifice anything. They made the Village bigger, more open, more stealth, more options, more enemies, realistic inertia, movement, better knife mechanics, better shooting (Gore is like REmake2 minus Deformation).

Of course they want it to be more horror like. Of course they put cult symbols around it, of course your first enemy encounter should be horrifying. It's basically a Crimson Head Ganado.

They don't need to bait you with "Oh Villagers are normal people" Of course they aren't.
Why would they be? And what's so subtle about the first game? It just has a longer intro section. The Village is way more expansive this time around. It's the first Resident Evil game with Physics, not Ragdolls, Physics. Things break when you shoot them, when you throw Ganados at wood or objects.

ALSO, we are missing the very first cutscene of the game with the cops. That is not in the Demo. Demo feels like go find those guys. But why are they missing? That's not explained because it's not the full game.

In the full game, they will go check out what's happening while you wait, then after they are gone you are going to try to search for them.
