VRAM Limitation and Crashing
This is probably my first community post on steam, anyways Resident evil 4 looks very good and ran smoothly on my 13600k + 6700XT Rig, the thing is that when you set the textures very high, the game may crash. My gpu has 12GB of vram and near the village it would consume over 11900-12000mb. Game ran at 1080p with the highest textures + 140% image quality to get the error quickly heh.

The reason why I posted this was to see if anybody else had this issue, I literally thought it was my overclock but after setting values to default and running the test again it crashes, make sure to watch your vram and set textures accordingly everyone, have a good day!

Yeah it crashes if you go over the limit even by a little.. Never happened in the previous remakes. I happily played at 150% over the VRAM limit

Might be vram limits. I have a 10gb 3080 and 7700X cpu. Getting this when adjusting settings in game.

---------------------------
re4demo.exe - Fatal Application Exit
---------------------------
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RESIDENT EVIL 4 BIOHAZARD RE4 Chainsaw Demo\re4demo.exe Fatal D3D error (25)
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Still haven't found a balance of quality and frame rate that I like.

Crashes every time d3d error 25.
4k maxed settings. Getting around 65 fps with fsr 2.0 balanced.
Crashes before entering first hours. No matter if native 4k or fsr.

Same happened with re2 remake after RT patch. Probably vram problem... but 3080 is a top of the line card from 2 years ago. This is a joke. I have more than 8gb of vram as texture setting suggests

I have same PC, playing in 4k/1440p everything max crashes if you put more than 2gb textures, dont try with 3 or 4gb, just 2gb is the max seems like

Follow up: I used 3GB textures and set the image quality to 100% @ 1080p, the game ran fine and completed the demo without any crashes!

I'm Running graphics on a combo of max and high. !00% at 1440p. Textures are on High 8GB. No crashes as long as Raytracing is turned off. If raytracing is turned on , i get the D3D error.

Finally came to a similar set of settings after dozens of crashes. Defaults with 2GB vram, Balanced FSR2.0 at 4K. Getting 60-90fps depending on how small of an area is being rendered. I'm happy with this. I toyed with interlacing and resolution scaling. You can get more frames but it looks worse then FSR 2. Fine details like leaves becoming really unstable.

Recently saw another discussion about the D3D error and raytracing being a problem, I have that turned on to high and I haven't gotten a crash yet since I fixed the VRAM issue. But that looks like another bug to fix.

Lower the amount of texture cache or the resolution scale.

The 30 series is gimped because of the VRAM. Sorry for you purchase. Lower the texture cache or resolution.

Maxed out on 1440p rtx 3080 vram wont exceed above 9500 mb just turn of ray tracing then its crash free.

So strange. I tired the over VRAM limit setting in RE2, 3, 7 and 8 and still no crashing issue. Hope Capcom can fix this issue.

I watch that vram with ray tracing in settings y so high 10-12gb vram when I start playing the demo the vram goes low on the half of settings show me, when I use s lot of VRAM the game crashes I hope Capcom fix this I got a rtx 2070 of laptop and a i710750H

I did some tests in 4k with my rtx 3070 ti, setting everything to the maximum with rt the game consumes 14.4 gb of vram and crashes, if i disable ray tracing the game consumes 13.11 gb of vram, but it doesn't crash, so i tried I reactivated ray tracing and lowered other settings and I brought the vram consumption with raytracing set to high to 12.47 gb of vram, despite consuming less vram than before the game crashed, the last test was to set raytracing to high but lower all the details and get to consume 5 gb of vram, so the game works. From my tests I can deduce that as long as you exceed the vram limit by that much, but without ray tracing the game doesn't crash, but if you activate ray tracing and you are exceeding the maximum amount of vram then it will crash, although maybe without ray tracing you use more vram as in my case since with 13.11 gb with rt off it doesn't crash and with 12.47 gb with rt on it crashes
