Seems to have some new mechanics to the combat that would be familiar to people who played the remakes and RE8. But I haven't played those. It took some getting used to. I wish the demo let you replay the final part after the bell rings. When they charge at you I think you're meant to shoot them but it feels difficult to avoid. My natural instinct is to turn around and run back a bit but I can't do that quickly enough. To save ammo I feel the need to shoot them in the head once then run up and melee them but that's difficult when there are groups. Seems like one of the chargers behind them would attack me rather than get pushed back by the melee kick.
I enjoyed the demo and I'll buy the full game, it looks good.
But in all the remakes and recent games your knife would wear out which I disliked. I suspect we find new knives to replace them or use the crafting components to repair them. I didn't like how in the recent games the zombies seem to repopulate areas and the player ends up avoiding them rather than clearing an area. It made it seem pointless trying to kill them all and I dislike running away. In RE4 you're supposed to kill everything, the way it should be.

Don't be sad, I'm also trying to learn the new control and combat scheme

My muscle memory from og re4 backfired so hard that I felt like a complete n00b now in remake4

It'll just take some getting used to. A veteran of RE4 can still struggle at first because the same tricks and tactics don't work. The game gives you a brief tutorial with 1 zombie then a few and then throws you in the deep end with 10+ zombies. Even when RE4 was new to us that village fight was always difficult. We learned how to either make use of the house to slow them down or to move and fire without running into a dead end. Getting charged or axes thrown at us seems unavoidable at first because we don't yet know how to deal with it effectively, so dying repeatedly is the only way to learn these mechanics. Either that or we manage to run and delay the mob until the bell rings. In my second attempt I took a lot of hits and was being pushed back to the entrance when the bell rang. I'm sure my first playthrough of this game isn't going to be the perfect flawless playthroughs I'm used to after replaying the original and the VR remake so many times.
