Hair on = fps off
Anyone looking for max fps turn off hair strands. Went from 110 fps at 4k on 4090 to 180fps at starting area with literally only turning off hair strands. Hair does look quite bad with it off but to me fps gain is more worth it.

I don't think hair looks bad at all with it turned off. From many angles I even prefer it without it.

Who tf needs 180 fps? I'm completely fine with 60, lol.

^This.
Most games are designed for console at first. Demo runs flawless with everything at max for me.

its like more effects are causing a tax on your hardware, imagine that.

It's really not worth the upwards of 30fps hit it brings.

game is heavily cpu bottlenecked at 1440p with 13900k and 4090, especially the last scene, fps dropped to 49 with everything maxed out. Maybe game ready driver will fix it. And ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, FSR2 is super ugly. I tried it just for the LULZ and this is the thing that amdrone said is very very close to dlss? With hair strands max, whole hair is basically checkerboard-like. Eww fsr can just die, its either dlss or xess for me.

btw, wtf is fidelityfx CACAO? What kind of bird comes up with this name.

I can see 2 cores pegged at 100% during the last scene, not sure whats so heavy about that scene. Normal gameplay my gpu utilization is about 70ish %

I have a Ryzen 5800X3D and the highest I ever see any core go is about 70% on two cores, with 30-40% on many others.

I don't think it's CPU bound, I think there's something else going on. I do see lower GPU utilization around those areas as well, even when CPU utilization isn't super high.

I'm also not seeing any massive drops like you were talking about above, aside from a single load-zone drop when you first round the corner and there's that shack to the left with the enemy in it. My assumption is this is when the game decides to load the village ahead, and that's why it takes a huge dive.

Outside of that load-zone, the lowest FPS I've seen is around 100fps.

Maybe the game is cache/memory intensive? That would explain why my 5800X3D isn't seeing as many issues as your 13900K even though the 13900K is a much better CPU otherwise.
