Totally different feeling and atmosphere

Am I the only one who thinks that the atmosphere is completely different from the original game ? I don't think it's bad but it's just totally different. While the original was more of an action game with a bit of horror, this remake feels like a horror game with a bit more action than the resident evil 2 remake.

The game just feels very different altogether. What do you guys think ?

well it is a different game after all. and i thought it brought back nostalgia quite nicely while playing. not everything has to be identical to the original version nor would i want it to be.

I think they're going for Horror in the village section.
Action-Horror in the castle.
and Action for the island.

I agree 100%. Also totally onboard, as just the demo made things just as intense if not more than the original. At least for this first leg it seems the survival aspect will be at the forefront almost all the time.

Seems similar to me,....although I got more of The Last of Us vibes from this......probably because of the crouching and geared more towards being slightly more sneaky.

No, I completely understand that. Maybe it's just me... For me somehow the horror worked very well in the RE2 Remake but in this game it feels weird. I dunno if that makes sense...

I feel it captures the spirit of the series and 4 at the same time pretty well.
Something to consider is when 4 was originally released on the Gamecube and how we've honestly played it *to death* at this point coupled with it's aged and hardware bound graphics.

Denser scenes, better lighting and atmospherics coupled with a slightly different pacing can go a very long way in making it feel different for sure.

That said, you can still totally go ham already with the parry mechanics (It works for more than just Salavador) and WAY more than ample ammo. There's even some tongue in cheek japes for Vets that made me laugh rather than playing itself so seriously.


And come on, The Bingo line is STILL there and made even better now imo with the dolly shot of the burning cop with the title drop.

well yes, but this remake is soooooo much darker then the original. Its like its not even the same game. As it should be cuz its a remake but still... I find it a little weird.

but it doesnt. This remake feels exactly like the RE2 remake. Which is weird because the RE2 remake was a horror game. And RE4 is SUPPOSED to be MORE of an action horror rather than horror action. But this remake is almost entirely horror. Its so much darker than the original, that is became a horror.

And I am strictly talking about atmosphere, not gameplay. The gameplay is fine, no problem there. I am only talking atmosphere and vibe

i dont know how you can tell that from one zone, the village area is all action.

you already kicking villagers, i think its just graphical fidelity helps to portray more "horror" atmosphere
