It's not that he's faster in the original, it's that his movement is way more precise because there's no intertia built into his movement like this remake has. The original has snappier more responsive movement because it doesn't have a bunch of fancy animation work going on.
I mean, I prefer good gameplay over realism, especially when realism is a detriment to good game-feel. So yeah, its a bit disappointing that the game feels worse than the original to play in this regard.
....The game where you can parry a chainsaw with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ knife isn't supposed to be about feeling like a badass? Is this seriously the point you're trying to make?
