Re7 is more photo-realistic than Re4r yet it has a great sound. Re3 is also the same engine and the same style yet has a great sound world. These are not mutually exclusive you know.
It’s kinda funny how people including the dev defended the lack of sound for re2r talking about realism. Yet I’m sure we’ll have a lot of michael bay ♥♥♥♥ in this game, similar to the croc chase in Re2r.
Like I always say: Sound is always the most important factor in horror games. That’s why Re2r feels like dull walkfest, not because of lack of features etc, it’s lack of sound. Hope they wouldn’t make the same mistake
That's exactly why just swapping the old soundtrack isn't enough, sometimes it works against the game and doesn't fit most of the time. (An example would be the classic panic music which they used for returning to Marvin in the remake.)
Btw I didn't know RE4R will have the classic sound swap like RE2R. Do you know anything else that I don't? Aside from the bland and amateurish trailer on store page, I haven't seen any footage. They released something new somewhere lately?

Save room only memorable
That’s the reason people say that in the first place.
Even if “it doesn’t have the charm/soul of the original” with a well designed sound world, it would have its own charm/soul.
So far everything from SFX, like gunshots, Leon kicks and parry sounds amazing.
They didn't show too much music, but in the latest trailer there is a fragment from Krauser theme rearrangement, and it didn't sound "soulless" or without the effort at all.
