How can they make Resident Evil 5 scary?
The game takes place mostly in the day and the scary part where you are attacked by a lot of enemies was instantly less scary when you have a partner AI with you.

Most of the bosses are tentacle monsters, every playable character has powerful melee attacks.

One thing I hope they keep is Wesker having super speed and strength, while it may not be scary, it was cool watching him teleport around and defeating everyone.

Everything else should be changed, remove the Partner, I can’t get scared if I have a partner AI helping me.

What do you think?

IMO, they can get away with remaking Re4, CV maybe... but after that, focus on new entries.
that's not makes any sense, RE5 is literally a RE4 with improvements, so the series was downhill with RE4

No. Re4 was dark, dreary, and had creepy atmosphere. Re5 was sunny, sandy, action movie, partner, and just not scary. Re5 was like a cod re.

Re5 was the worst

Worse than RE 6? At least I had fun playing RE 5 with friends but to me RE 6 is simply unplayable even in co-op. It's just way too far removed from the standard gameplay formula to be enjoyable and running by default in an RE game is utterly sacrilegious. I spit on RE 6 a thousand times.

That is your opinion, there are those of us who love Re5

Shinji Mikami had a lot of interesting input about the identity of resident evil in interviews, particularly for RE6, including how he interprets survival horror in general Capcom coined the genre in 96 for the first resident evil, so he has good ideas about the development of a good survival horror game in general.

i think the scariest part is the braindead ai teammate.
The AI Sheena was fine as long as you gave her the right weapon like SMGs/sniper. She ends up being quite competent. She just has issues with some other weapons.

OP, I honestly can't see RE5 being "scary" unless they dial back the action elements a bit to make it a bit more methodical and less guns blazing. They have a good enemy types to support it but they don't use them as such in the original.

Horror can definitely work in daylight. Horror set in the dark is a cliche. There's no hiding horrors and gruesome scenes in daylight and these things seems even more unnerving when not under cover of darkness.
The only relatively scary thing I can think of in RE5 is the Guy with the giant axe and some of the regular ganados, but those are essentially just re-branded RE4 enemies.

I think the main thing is that in the original, throughout the entire story, the Bsaa and Chris/Sheva are framed as being on the Offensive against Wesker. Despite the number infected, and the death of Troy Baker, the actual situation feels largely under control and contained. It makes a point that Chris's entire mission is by choice and Sheva is following him because it would be weird if it stopped being a coop game half-way through.

The story should be reframed as something like Chris is visiting BSAA's African division before it's suddenly overrun and everything starts going to ♥♥♥♥ as Wesker follows through with his plans.

I don’t even think the dude with the axe was all that scary, but I think that as long as there is a partner helping you, it is not scary anymore.

I think the new Resident Evil 5 should just be Chris or Sheva but never both at the same time.

The other character can show up in cutscenes.

No more co op! I know this will upset a lot of players but you can’t have horror if you are constantly helped by another player or character in my opinion.

I'm sure they could dial the horror way up if they liked, just going to be holding back due to feedback of 7 though.

Never forget that giant spiders got cut out of the RE2 remake because people are such wusses that they couldnt handle it during playtesting

there was this mod created called "Night Terror", it made RE5 have more horror vibes that the vanilla. Capcom should see it.
