Fan-made Code Veronica Remake canceled by CAPCOM...
It appears that their fan-made project Code Veronica Remake got canceled by CAPCOM. Does this mean CAPCOM Dev 1 are listening to the fans? When will they ever remake Code Veronica? https://twitter.com/recodeveronicar/status/1606713839990579200

All I hope it is dev 1 who is doing the cv Remake or even a remake of Resident evil 1 remake.

I hope Capcom gives the devs the time they need DEV 1 should make a remake of RE 1 and Code Veronica they better don’t outsource Important games again.

uh, it means don't remake a game if you don't own the rights to it

It's called copyright infringement, look it up.

Some developers/publishers are cool with fan games and fan made remakes, so long as you don't use stolen codes or whatever. In the case of developers who do NOT have a history of supporting fan games;

You can actually lose your trademarks if you don't enforce them, you're only guaranteed legal protection if you use them and enforce them as your own.

Any large company is going to defend its IP rights.

Valve lets people make Half Life mods and fan games, then sometimes lets them sell them on Steam, so both parties win. You absolutely can have your cake and eat it too, if the dev or publisher is willing to cooperate.

Every single one of which has strict licensing controls in place.

And the fact you brought up mods which require the user to own the base game really shows how little you understand of what you're trying to discuss.

Well I'll admit that I don't know the laws or anything, nor do I believe you know the specific details either. All I'm saying is that it's possible and I also highly doubt a dev can just lose their IP so easily because of fan projects, in fact I'd like some examples of such a thing happening.

https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/maintain/keeping-your-registration-alive

Generally, trademark owners are only entitled to a federal registration if they're using their trademark in commerce. That's why most applicants submit specimens when they apply — to show that they're using their trademark. However, demonstrating trademark use once isn't enough. You must regularly demonstrate use throughout the life of your trademark if you want to maintain your registration and keep its benefits.

Stop using it and let others use it instead of you? Gone.

There's a host of other issues around IP and copyright, each with their own sets of rules. It's not a simple issue. But the most important part of protecting it is enforcing your rights and not just letting the public use it however they want.

CV is awesome. hopefully they put it on steam one day.

Just going to say it...'good'. The fan games were not proper 'remakes' since the game-play played nothing like the original. It's just a shame the only games with proper remakes are RE1 and RE4. It just felt lazy that it was going ots instead of fixed cameras for a bunch of games that was never 3rd person to begin with.

Let me guess. You can´t get past the Tyrant because you wasted to much ammo?

The HD remaster of it would be sweet.
Capcom are dumbasses for not putting CVX remaster on Steam despite REmake and 0 remasters being on here.

Do you think the reason it is not on Steam might be because it was never ported to PC?
