Lumino City

Lumino City

Are there similar games?
I'm not much of an adventure fan but this game was fantastic. I played it in one session. What I liked most is the fact that you don't run around back and forth looking for an object and spend hours talking to people but instead have actual puzzles which are independent from the game's world (apart from their impact when you solved one) and you don't have to worry about forgetting something way back, instead you always walk forward (with a few expections).

Now I'd like more of it. Do you know any game that fits the description I wrote up there? I also played Machinarium a few times, which is also great.

I haven't played Lumino City yet, but have you checked out Puzzle Agent? I'd expect that the puzzles in Lumino City are a bit more tricky and varied, but the concept of both games seems to be similar.

Ah yes, Puzzle Agent. That one also fits into that category. I played through the first game and I own the second game but I never played it (it was part of a bundle) because I'm honest with you: I'm a wimp. When I played the first game and those red gnomes appeared, I was scared to go on. Knowing that the second game will probably have this creepy atmosphere as well paired with the jumpscares is the reason I didn't (and won't) play Puzzle Agent 2.

Thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately that's no option for me.

I'm a fan of classic adventure games, with emphasis on puzzles and exploration. You can find quite a few adventures by searching for point & click, and possible atmospheric as tags in the Steam store.

Besides these classic point & click adventures, I would recommend Tiny Bang Story, which also has a nice atmosphere. You also don't spend time talking to characters, and the path is rather linear. That said, Tiny Bang Story is more a hidden object game. Other atmospheric, point & click adventures I've enjoyed are: Machinarium (though difficult at times), Tengami (short, more a visual novel).

If you like Machinarium, you can also check out Botanicula (from the same makers), though I did not like it as much as Machinarium.

There are others, which I haven't played, but likely of interest to you: Gomo, Fire, Lilly Looking Through, Stacking (possible more a classic point & click adventure, but the same visual style as Lumino City), Beyond Eyes (very atmospheric).

It looks like the predecessor to Lumino City was Lume by StateOfGamesPlay.com. I haven't tried Lume but it might have a similar feel and appears to have a similar look. Here's the link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/105100/?snr=1_7_7_151_150_1
