French translation is terrible

Hi!
Just want to say, I love Retro City Rampage, but the French translation is.. terrible.

Is everyone is reading or watching manga (japanese comic book/animation) before the official release in his country? The most common time, there's a team to translate it, and sometimes, there's a lot of mistakes... and that's makes you scream against the translator.
Right?
In Retro City Rampage, this is exactly what I feel: a very good game, a very bad translator.

I agree -- there are intentional mistakes and tons of references. I think a translation would inherently be a lot poorer. That said, I don't speak French, so maybe it is awful otherwise.

Well, there's intentionnal mistakes ("Toutafé" instead of "Tout à fait"...), but the most mistakes I see looks very unintentionnal (2 "t" instead of one, -é instead of -er, etc.).
I'll take screenshot the next time I'll play :p

There's intentional engrish in this game to make fun of the old nes translations. Don't know how that translates in the french translation at all, but I imangine it's just as bad. If the whole game is poorly translated, then I suggest you email the dev, and tell him about it.

bad luck bro, spanish translation, is nice for me, some words are so literally translated and character names are spanished sometimes, but I think the same, as the guy above me say: "There's intentional engrish in this game to make fun of the old nes translations".

Are you from Quebec or France? I'm pretty sure the developer is Canadian, so it's possible that it's Quebec french(which is a tad different).

Well, I'm from France. I know the "Quebec-ish French" isn't exactly the same than in France, but it doesn't apologize the misspelling of the most common words :/
I don't have the time right now to play and take some screenshots, but I'll do it tomorrow and send it to Vblank, I hope this is a kind of intentionnal "Frengrish" they trying to do :/

I'm from France too and I agree on the fact that the french translation in this game is terrible. I don't think it was intentional seeing how much spelling mistakes there is. The kind of mistakes that has nothing to do with how french is spoken in France and in Canada (conjugation for instance).

At first I was really surprised to find a french translation in the options, but after completing a mission with it enabled, I just had to go back to the english version.
I do appreciate the effort, I really do, because I didn't think this game would even have this kind of feature at all. But I'm kinda sad at the results and for the developper because his game clearly deserved better than that.

It's not like it's a big deal for me, since I can understand english fairly well. But unfortunately, not every french player is like me. Not having a good french translation doesn't make the game any less awesome, but because the game is so good I just feel like it deserved a better translation.

..and I don't send all the screenshots I take. It's easy, I can find grammar/misspellng/conjugation mistakes in most than the half of the text screens.

But whatever, after send it to VBlank, the conceptor of the game admit he wasn't familiar with French and was unable to verify. So I'll probably help him to prettify the translation.

The Spanish translation is terrible too. It seems that they used the Google translator.

Yeah, I keep seeing grammar error, mostly "-er" written "é" and vice-versa.

It's cool some of the slang was translated into old school French slang but the grammar errors are making my eyes bleed.

I don't know if it's intentional, but some sad mistakes are spoiling the rather good translation.

Well, that "-é instead of -er," might be for passe compose, but I'm not sure. I haven't seen any actual dialogue. You could perhaps give us a line that uses this mistake, for example.

With my own corrections:
"Tu as activé un CHEAT ! (I don't count CHEAT as a mistake, only as an Angliscism).

And that wasn't an isolated case, there was LOTS of lines like these three ones.

Anyway, I don't replay RCR since, so I just presume all that translation stuff was patched since, specially with all the console releases and the DX update.
