Crashes and Graphical Glitches
I'm frequently unable to play RCR, or if I can there are graphical glitches that I'm certain aren't deliberate; they sure as hell ain't in the Xbox360 version.
If I try to play in the regular, 8-bit graphics mode the game loads and then instantly crashes out, merely stating that RCR has 'stopped working'. Playing in the so-called 'enhanced' graphics mode sees bizarre textures that I'm sure shouldn't be there. They're not unlike the graphical glitches you got in an old, dusty NES cartridge, though as I say, they're not in the 360 version, nor even in a few Let's Plays I checked on the internet. Pretty sure they're not meant to be there.

Can anybody help?

There's no explanation for those graphical glitches other than an improper build sync. Try completely uninstalling the game then reinstalling it. Sounds to me like Steam's update didn't work properly.

Hmm.. I've tried numerous re-installs as well as cache validations, there's no improvement thus far, plus I'm now receiving errors regarding Steam cloud.
Hope this manages to get sorted soon. Can tell there's a great game underneath it all.

The game doesn't use Steam cloud. This is strange.

Can you please provide more information on these graphical glitches? There's no explanation other than the fact that the game would be loading the wrong data file due to a Steam Update sync mix up. Can you post a picture? Does it happen in 8-BIT and RETRO+?

For me the water tiles and some random tiles (like the one on the roof and the one in front of the Hot Coffee Machine in the screenshot below) are glitched out and flash black. This happens in both Graphic modes.

gamedata.bfp should be 14,937,408 bytes. According to one user here who was having problems, theirs was 35MB in size. Sounds to me like Steam Update messed up. Please completely uninstall the game (and ensure it's no longer in the folder) then re-install it. Back up your *.rsv filesand rcr.cfg if you need. Check the size of gamedata.bfp after and let me know if the issues are fixed.

Well after deleting the local data and deleting the actual folder for Retro City Rampage in the steamapps/common directory - still having issues with glitches and can't even begin starting a freeroaming or story mode without the game imidiately crashing. Here are the glitches I was able to see when trying to start the freeroaming. http://i.imgur.com/VV7MQXi.png Also the gamedata.bfp file is now reading Size: 14.2 MB (14,937,408) Size on disk: 14.2 (14,938,112 bytes)

My gamedata.bfp was 14,937,408 bytes but I deleted it away then verified the game cache. It's all fixed for me now :I.

Edit: I didn't see the V1.11C update, that was most probably what fixed it for me :P.

Just tried the gamedata.bfp file fix, worked instantly. Not used to these sorts of fixes having migrated from consoles.
Bripro, presuming you are THE Brian Pro, just wanna say your support on this forum demonstrates a real class act. Major publishers and developers could learn from your dedication. Also, your game is pretty damn special too.
