Mods - How can I change/remove the high-pitch "ricochet" 'PING' sound effect?
Okay, so this game seems great so far, except for one thing: the high-pitched, tinny, piercing, non-stop "ricochet" noise. It's like the sound of someone hitting a crystal with a tiny hammer, right next to your ear, endlessly. It's not even really a ricochet sound, because it happens ALL the time, and bullets don't ricochet 100% of the time. It happens when your bullets hit anything and everything. Rocks. Oil Drums. Cars. Turrets. Wood fences. Trees. PEOPLE. Why does the game make an irritating, high-pitched "PING" sound when I shoot a person? What sense could that possibly make? And trees? Seriously? This sound should only ever occur when you shoot metallic objects, and ideally not even then, because it is a horrible sound, and because cars don't make a ridiculously high-pitched "PING" sound when you shoot them.

I don't mean to say that this game wouldn't be otherwise awesome. I really like everything else about it, but that sound effect has got to go or this game is getting uninstalled. I'm sorry, I know this probably seems unreasonable, but I just cannot stand that sound effect being constantly triggered. After 45 minutes playing the game, it is all I can hear anymore.

The game has a mod menu built in, but of course the one thing I want to change, sound FX, is not an option. Anyone have any idea how I can either replace that sound with something else, or just remove it from the game entirely? I would rather there be no sound effect at all when things get shot, than have to hear that sound one more time.

Thank you for any help you can provide, and for enduring my rant.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I looked in the steamapps folder for the game, and I found the file audio_sfx_W32.bap which I'm sure is where all the sound effects are compiled, but I don't know how to handle decompiling and recompiling that file, so if anyone has any experience working with .bap files, that would be a huge help. Thanks.

Would like to know too.
*bump* Anyone?

The .bap file appears to be a proprietary format from company Blaze Audio. Does anyone have the Blaze Audio program RipEditBurn that I can send my .bap file to and have them rip out the metallic ping sound? This is a program that costs over 70 dollars and there's no way I'd ever spend the money on a program I'd only use once, for a game I got for $4. Would really appreciate it if someone either has this program already, or can explain another way that .bap files can be modified/edited.

Volume has been reduced for v1.12
Good guy bripro, listens to players!
Just tried out the new version and wanted to say thank you! The sound only seems to happen at normal volume from metallic objects now, with everything else it's much quieter - almost inaudible. I can live with that! I hope this won't bother anyone who didn't mind the sound before, which is why I was hoping to find a way to mod the sound for just my game so as not to disturb the people who liked the game the way it is, but I'll take what I can get. The game is playable for me again! Thank you very much!
