Forgive Me Father is pretty much similar to Gunslinger by art style and you can also use revolver
Thank for the suggestion. Looks a bit too much doom more than gunslinger personally for me. But either way, keep hitting me with ideas. Thank you!!!
I played The Darkness II before Gunslinger and they have quite some similarities.
Similarities:
+ arcade style gameplay with points flashing on screen
+ bonus points for headshots and special moves
+ you playing as the tough guy killing hordes of goons
+ very similar level tree
+ lots of blood (The Darkness II is brutal actually and splatter moves are an integral part of the game)
+ similar looks, like semi realistic, comic like
+ playthrough time, both first runs took me like 7.5 hours
+ dual wielding weapons
+ collectibles with lots of text
+ NG+
+ bonus levels after the story (haven't checked that out on the Darkness yet)
differences:
- no bullet time
- Darkness II has the darkness as a superpower, which makes the character stronger and can slash enemies while using guns, you'll see it when you look it up
- Darkness II is paced a bit slower, there are regular story sequences where you don't fight and you use cover more often than in CoJ
- setting. The darkness is a mild horror and emo fps with mafia dudes and Aunt Sarah
- CoJ's got lots of sunshine, the Darkness II is mostly dark
The Darkness 1 is only on PS3 and X360 I think. Also the gameplay changed a lot since The Darkness 1. I like the updates of The Darkness II a lot btw and Darkness 1 gameplay feels quite dated and stiff in my opinion. I suggest you read up on the story of part 1 in case you want to play Darkness II, just to understand some stuff better. It's not that complicated.
Also maybe wait till it's on sale, it's still 30 bucks, wow…
Playting the game! Love it! right up my alley! playing on hardest as well. but maaan, was the initial restaurant part hard, after that, its pretty fun and standard difficulty!
Same on rails, arcade, random cut scene, combo bonus silliness.
Well worth a play.
