Can I perfectly play this without knowing the previous parts?

Does this game reference the earlier parts of the Call of Juarez series in any way or can I play it without knowing the previous parts without missing out on anything whatsoever?

I just saw this in the new flash sales and I am thinking about giving it a try because it is so extremely well rated. Normally when I play games that are part of a series I like to start with the first one and play them all in order though, so that I can perfectly follow the story and don't miss out on any references. However, I don't think I am that interested in the franchise that I want to buy four games from it.

Yes you can .. This game has a new storyline and it its absolutely amazing on its own.

You can, it's not linked to the previous games except for some collectibles referencing them.

You don't need to know any of the previous games stories, it's self-contained. It's an awesome game, the best of the franchise.
