Which ending do you think is canon? (spoilers)
Which one did you choose?

I chose revenge first because I can't see Silas tracking Bob down for 40 years and just suddenly giving up. He was in too deep and was too committed to change his mind at that point. Even up to six months ago when he fought Butch and Sundance just to find out where Bob was shows he was still very much into getting his revenge. I went back after and played the final mission again to try the other ending and it's okay I guess, but just seems out of character. He said he wants to see what kind of man Bob has become but I don't think it matters. To Silas Bob was cemented in his mind as being a ruthless killer who murdered his family. What he is now doesn't change the fact he needed to pay for his crimes. Plus if you pick that ending you are deprived of the final boss encounter the whole game has been building up to. I think revenge is canon.

They're both good endings, on my playthrough I doubt a bit but went straight into revenge. I do believe it's more fitting honestly.
On the other hand I must admit that sparing the man was a nice route anyways, it's a little emotional too haha!

On ny first playthrough i let Bob live. I tend to be the "nice guy" in gaming.
In the seond run i killed him for the achievement...

I think the redemption ending is the canon one. I mean, it might feel goofy that Silas chased and killed many men just to forgive the killer of his brothers, but at the end of the story he admits feeling guilty of being a murdered. Killing Ben (Bob) is satisfying, but seeing Silas' humanity is way better.

I agree. I too believe that the redemption ending has to be canon because Silas admitted on few occasions he regrets becoming a killer far worse than men he had been chasing ever were. Understanding that he wasted all his life for merely nothing in the end, listening to the words of Grey Wolf, he realized that he needed to redeem himself and that that redemtion had to start with forgiving his life-time long foe, Roscoe "Bob" Bryant - the only one who changed his ways and actually deserved forgiveness. As Silas remarks, Bob walked the same path of a killer as he, but in the opposite direction, unlike John Ringo, Jim Reed and Silas himself. If Silas had killed Ben (Bob) right there and then, he would've taken a life of an innocent man who had been sorry for his sins for a long time at that point (it's what I assume). Also as Silas pointed out in the ending cut scene, Ben had plenty of opportunities to kill Silas while he was telling his stories and giving hints and signals to Ben about knowing who he was in his previous life. I can't tell if that was fear of taking other person's life or of the law, but Ben not killing Silas as soon as he revealed his identity only shows changes in that man's way of life.

Sadly, it might just not be the truth. One of the loading screen tips says that Steve became Bull's Head bartender after Silas Greaves's visit. This can only mean Ben was shot by Silas in a duel, because there's no other reason for Ben to leave his saloon. Before anyone asks, no, unfortunately I don't have a screenshot with this tip and, yes, I saw it after I completed the game with both endings with the last one being the redemtion ending.
