How to remove the HUD?

I've seen some cool HUD-less screenshots of this game, but no matter what I goggle I don't get a straight answer. It's not in settings either. Anyone know how to do this??

When you play in "true west" mode (unlocked after finishing the game in hard mode) there's no HUD (to make the game more difficult). Just like the ranger mode in Metro 2033
