Here are the specific steps to reproduce what I did :
1. Have the controller Unplugged.
2. Select a character using the keyboard and lock in (The game will now start shortly)
3. Before the game does start, plug the controller in, it will set itself to Player 2 and you'll be able to pick a character.
doesn't work. :(
controller is still player 1. sadly.
do you use the xbox controller?
Here's what I did step by step:
1.Plugged in my controller.
2.Player 1 indicator is on.
3.Started Left 4 dead 2
4.In console typed: ss_map <any map name>
5.During loading screen unplugged the controller.
6.Plugged in the controller again.
7.Player 2 indicator is now on and player 1 indicator on the controller is off.
8.Turned off L4D2
9.Launched Castle Crashers
10.Played 2 player coop with one game pad + kb and had a great time :D
P.S. need to repeat all these steps when controller indicator switches back to player 1.
Maby someone could find easier way to switch the indicator on the controller from player 1 to player 2 ? Some kind of software or something to switch between those?
Just connect the controller when you on the character selection screen and the controller will pick the player 2 slot...
Even if Player 1 has already locked in with a character?
I recommend following this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YI5M-VGt5vc , and in settings, make sure you put it to pad 2.
As far as I'm aware, it should work fine with a normal XBOX controller.
Each time no matter what both controller and keyboard are fixed on player 1. This is a really fail design on their part since this game is all about local co-op.
