You could get an XBOX controller , plug it into ur PC and then play local multiplayer with ur family and friends on one computer :D
2. Tell 'em to buy CC.
3. Play.
Now you always have a full lobby. =3 But about the text chat and everything: yeah, I think the developers could have done a much better job porting it to the PC. They basically made the game keyboard-enabled and left it at that. Even their "Controls" section still shows an XBox controller. So useless. X) Ah well, still a wonderful game if you can get into it with a couple friends.
It doesn't matter if it's indie or not, this game is not free, it's a commercial game and one should expect a certain degree of support and quality, and both are lacking in this product.
The fact that people like it doesn't mean it's a well developed game. People uses Windows (me too), despite it being the worst OS ever made.
I'm pretty sure this game's online MP didn't die because jesus wanted it to die, but because people got frustrated at asking to fix common problems and lack of features, but got silence in return.
Now, if you think waiting hours to play a game, or needing to get a group up and organize games days before is good for you then ok, but I don't have time for that, and when I have 30 minutes free I just want to play a game. Life is too short to stare at a monitor.
It's not like I really want to play this online and, to be honest, I didn't even try to play with random people, but I hate when people loves something so blindly that can't see its faults.
You should grow up and learn that not everyone has your same needs and tastes.
the online for this game is better for meeting people or playing with friends.
check discord also. there are many people who have loved this game over the years so its not to hard to find players and its a super easy game for new players to pick up and play so having friends join you shouldn't be to hard.
I personally don't have any friends in real life who use steam they all use console but i find through steams discussions ,groups, and discord it is easy to find people for games like this.
i recommend utilizing steams features rather than building up these expectations you have for online on smaller games like this.
most games after a few months of release you have to do this for because the masses usually follow the trend so it is a rare case you get a game where you can find people in ranked and causal after sometime but you can still connect easily with friends and the community so it never matters.
i also recommend doing research before buying a game or you are going to end up a sour puss like this most of the time. pirating games is also for babies- especially when pirating games coming from developers like this but you do you
