It´s not only for steam ... But DS3TOOL sucks . Not recommended , i´d rahter play with a Keyboard than a Ps3 Dualshock controller . It´s better to buy an Xbox controller , which is fully supported by Windows 7 / 8 and Big Picture (Steam mode) .

I use a bootcamped mac if that helps. I mostly use a 360 controller but if I want to play locally with a friend I set up my PS3 controller to work too.

you can use a Dualshock 3 on a macbook via blutooth. it works on big picture too.

Interesting, I didn't know I could do that... Do I have to have my mac bootcamped or is this not necessary?

x360ce works on Windows 8 with my PS3 controller.

This actually did work, and I've been play Castle Crashers like literally all day with my PS3 controller. DS3tool might look bad, but it does the trick if you know how to get it configured.
