how do i get a shovel

ive been playing this game for a few days and im wondering how/when i get the shovel, does anyone know?

You can find it right at the entrance of the Desert, after leaving the ship.

Go to the Desert and there is a shovels scattered.

First you need to get to the dock and have all 3 of the items needed for them to set the ship and then after you fight the ninja pirates you will end up on the beach. On the beach there are shovels around when you walk from the starting point.
