Renaming characters?

I am playing with my roommate and they are dissatisfied with having to have the same name as me. Can they rename their character?

The name is the same as your Steam name. There's no way to have different names for each player if you do local co-op on Steam. You'd have to each have a Steam account and play through online co-op.
