Cant get past press start screen

hello i recently redownloaded castle crashers and when i launch the game i get the the "press start" screen and when i press sttart on my controller or space on my keyboard it just sits there like nothing happened, i can skip all the intro stuff with spacebar, but when i get the the press start screen nothing happens pls help

I press Enter on the keyboard for Start. Not sure if that helps or if I remapped it.

Other than that, first thing (which you may have already done) is uninstall and reinstall the game.

If that didn't work, then to close everything (exit Steam, turn off computer, turn it back on) and see if that fixes it?

If not, then it's a much deeper dive. But don't lose heart!
