This never happens to me. :?

The best solution would be, of course, to not alt+tab. But you probably have good enough reasons to need to.

Well I neither have the same problem, nor a solution, but I have a similiar problem. Whenever I want to look at the achievements of awesomenauts while playing the game. The screen with the achievements always dissappears in a few seconds no matter what.
Well my problem is not important, but anyone help the OP.

In the game forum they recommend you to use Steam Beta. My brother had the same problem and this solved for it. You can change this setting in the steam client.

This is a videocard driver issue, it is usually fixed by installing new drivers (downloaded directly from the website of Nvidia/AMD/Intel), or by switching from OpenGL to DirectX.
I have had this issue too.

Test this to see if it is a problem from steams side, launch a game from different DRMs like Battle.net or Origin. If this persists in these games too, try:
  • Updating Display Drivers
  • Running the game in "Windowed (Fullscreen)" mode
  • Disabling XBOX Game DVR if you are running Windows 10

If this only happens within steam games, you could try:

  • Disabling the steam overlay within the steam settings.
  • Running the Steam Beta
  • Re-install steam.

If none of these solutions work, try wiping your hard drive.
OR, if you are using windows 10 and have this problem - Downgrade to Windows 7/8 or Linux

You're replying to a really old topic. In the meanwhile we've already added a better solution to Awesomenauts: switch to Borderless Window instead of Fullscreen and alt+tab won't crash anymore and will also be much faster.

@joost not all games have a borderless option..
