haha lol
At the moment, his Cat Pillar upgrade heals his allies, but not him. His solar generating is the worst of any character. The long game favors Genji, as he doesn't become really dangerous until later. His upgrades are TOO expensive, of any naut. He really needs a team built around him. Tanks like clunk and skolldir work great. Any other combination of nauts is problematic.
He's a great naut given time....but he relies so heavily on his team. If its not the right set of nauts, he's very limited.
Storm Drum is only helpful early game for clearing droids and some area denial. As the game progresses, its utility gets less effective. It does a pitiful amount of damage. There's nothing wrong with using it, if it suits your playstyle.
His butterfly shot is way more fierece if you go Prayer Beads (damage), Space Hippo Manure (damge over time) and attack speed. The only issue is that his upgrades are really expensive, and he can't generate enough solar to get some of his better builds going. Unless his team can secure some early kills and knock down turrents.
That leaves you in a pickle. If you invest in your auto attack (butterfly shot), you can't support your team with blessing. If you invest in monarch blessing, you're left with a weak auto attack, which makes farming for solar very difficult.
A lot of matches are finished/decided within 15-20 mins. Occasionly sonner than that if the enemy team has a pushy set of nauts. Playing Genji in these circumstances leaves you in a bad position. He can't generate enough solar to be effective....unless the game goes long. And for that he needs the right nauts. Until he gets his build going, his team is playing 2 vs 3. It will feel that way.
Again, Genji's late game is superb. But he needs to get there first. He's solar starved, and needs TIME to get going. 15 min matches won't cut it.
I win most often when I'm supporting tanks like Clunk and Skolldir. If you have a really good Clunk, and another burst oriented character, its a great combo. Just today I won with this combo.
It doesn't mean you can't win without those combinations above. The great thing about Genji is his versatility. I can burst heal, heal with cocoon, add permanent life to my allies (two pills basically), cocoon for ganks etc., push with flying droids etc. Again, versatile...but you have to know how to build him and have the right complement of nauts on your team that most benefit from his support.
Genji's speed boost + Shield + Rage Ayla = Super-fast Ayla.
Genji isn't meant for direct combat, he's meant to support his team, overwhelm and disable his foes. Also storm drum is pretty powerful.
