Who is the guy standing beside... *spoilers?*

We have Escher (the protagonist) and Isaac Newton (the man with long hair in the paintings) in this game, right? But who is the guy with a mole on his left (or right?) forehead, standing beside Newton at the 2nd ending, and also appeared in Hallways' paintings and busts?

（I've checked some contemporaries of Newton, but found no one with similar appearance.）
