crash in XP. Was running fine. Is there a troubleshooting faq?

Hi, I'm looking for a troubleshooting faq for Windows XP if possible. The game was running fine many times. I had been away from it for a few weeks, maybe month and when I come back it acts like it tries to start but then closes the window so quickly I can't tell what is happening. No error message to see. The only recent thing I can think of that I've changed on my PC is that I've added dropbox. Is that a possible conflict? Appreciate any tips/pointers. If there's a file somewhere that gets created on a failed startup that'd be cool too if I can investigate there.

this did the trick:
"Exit Steam entirely.

Browse to your Waveform installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Waveform\)

Run the following installers:

...\steamapps\common\Waveform\redist\vcredist_x86.exe
...\steamapps\common\Waveform\redist\redist\oalinst.exe

Reboot your computer and test any issues again.?
