[FIXED] Black Screen
I bought it today but surprisingly it won't work.
After this[i.imgur.com] screen, everything goes black and that's it.

My system specs are as follows:
Pentium 4, 3.2GHz
ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO
2GB RAM
Windows 8

I've tried verifying cache, compability mode with Win7 but nothing worked.
PS: I'm able to run LEGO LOTR which is fairly newer.

Run the game as Administrator -BOOM- problem solved. You're welcome.

I tried that way back when, and it didn't work. In the end it was just the third install that seemed to do it. No idea why.

I had this problem, too, when I changed the resolution the first time I started it. I finally had to reset my computer because I couldn't get out of the game. Ran it again after the restart, it started in the new resolution (same as my Windows resolution) and the game has run fine since. These LEGO games always seem to have issues, LEGO Star Wars 1 was buggier then hell, LEGO HP1 always crashed my laptop on one level, it would be nice if TT would provide patches for these games.

I was able to get it working, I think i changed my resolution or something, make it lower then load the game and create a save point. Then change the resolution and load it back up. I think thats how i fixed it. it was weird i played with a lot of settings. if that doesn't work i'll try and figure out what i did.

alot of times you have to turn the aa on the video card off because the game settings and teh card setting will conflict try that whenever that happens.

I saw somewhere in this thread that they uninstalled and reinstalled and tried it on the third time and it worked fine well I had given up on this game a few months back because it didn't work. Then I saw that because I'm a big HP fan I installed it for my 3rd time (because I've done it twice before and just on a chance it would work).....the game actually worked. No waiting 10 mins on a black screen or anything it runs as smoothly as years 1-4 I guess 3rd time is the charm. But I'm happy that I got to play and beat the whole lego hp series was funny and fun.

You need to delete files from folder's game: DeltaC32Build.bin, dfe, GraphicsGRules.sgr, keyMenu4Pt_v2.cf, PH0NEME_EU.nfs, PkgAppInfo.hal, rldata.dll, streaming_vo_vid32-00.fbrb, wln_TTx64.sub, XTerrain00pys.bix, __DISC__
100% work. Testing: Xeon E5520, Nvidia GTX 750 and ATI 4870, RAM 12GB

I know this is an old post but for anyone that has the problem where if they try to tab out of the game your computer will just a black screen, I do have a Fix.

The game was compatible with windows 7 so to fix the problem just follow these steps:

1. Right click your game in your steam game list and click "properties"
2. Click on the tab "Local Files" then click "Browse Local Files"
3. Right Click on the "LEGOHarryPotter" application and click "Properties"
4. Click on the "Compatibility" tab then click "Run Compatibility Troubleshooter"
5. The system will find the settings your game must run in so it may take a moment. Once it has found the settings click "Try recommend settings". (This will open your game)
6. Once your game is open tab out and you should not black screen! Go back to the troubleshooter and click "keep settings" and you're done!

This did nothing. System attempted to run in Windows 7 and it still froze/stopped responding
