control setup for keyboard

does anyone know if there is a way to keep the keyboard controls the same after exiting the game? i am just wondering if there is any way to keep the keyboard controls the same when you exit the game. i keep changing the directional keys from w a s d to up down left and right arrows but every time i exit the game the keyboard mapping reverts back to default settings and i have to go back and change them all over again every time i load or play the game. anyone know if there is a way to keep the keyboard controls from reverting to default settings?

Same problem with gamepad. Every run - new settings. Did you solve this?

No i have not solved it yet still is a major mystery to me why the keyboard settings or keyboard controls won't stick as they still to this day reset to default after exiting out of the game to windows.

There is not a fix for this as it's also forced to switch upon exit AND upon boot of the game - just like with the language.

Yes, I have exactly same problem. I have to set gamepads every time I start the game which makes me really annoying.

For anyone still wondering, I tried to change the permissions of mapping.dat while alt tabbing out of the game, so it wouldn't change, didn't work at all, I don't think it is saved in that file, or at least not properly.

I did in the end make a macro, that would go to control settings for me and change the settings to the settings I wanted. It's not perfect, but it's the best solution I've found so far. If somebody does know a way for the permissions trick to work, please share, if not, macro all the way
