Lovegoods Lunacy - pumpkins thrown at Death

So... I'm playing without a controller and only with keyboard. When I get to the point you need to use the pumpkins to throw at death they won't spin if I press A to aim left and only spin if I use W to aim up...

Looking at the other versions I should be aiming left and that shouldn't be an issue so anyone who got past this bit got any advise? Is it where I'm placing the character? Or is this a bug?

Walk to just past the pumpkins, take off the cape (K), move to each pumpkin in turn, press K to lift a pumpkin, then when it's floating press A to fire it at death.

Yeah, I was doing that. Found the error: if you reconfigure the controls then it won't accept the instruction to fire left. So I had to reset to default controls and then it worked. :)

Those 'spin the thing and throw it at target x' are finnicky. I had problems with the pumpkins and the darts in Leaky Cauldron. There's nothing to show the direction of your throw and it's especially annoying hitting things in front of you. Just keep trying and you'll get it.
