No sound during cutscenes [SOLVED]

So I had a problem with no sound during the cutscenes or menus. I would hear the bullet sounds when a button was pressed but the music and other ambient sounds were quiet. Cutscenes also featured no sound. I couln't fnd help online but I did find a workaround. I'm posting here so if anyone else has this issue they will have a solution. I ask for no thanks. Pay it forward.

I had a Conexant HD SmartAudio device with the latest drivers on Windows 7. I went into Device Manager and uninstalled the driver and restarted my system. This meant that Windows will use a generic driver. The cutsenes don't seem to have an issue with the generic driver so sound houd be now playing where it didn't before.
