Oh? Are you actually gonna pretend that you didn't notice that levels were designed with PLENTY of cover spots? Hell the whole game is about cover and run... Stop being a hypocrite and quit wasting my time.
Poorly designed mechanics does not constitute a challenge and I don't even understrand why you're defending this kind of ♥♥♥♥....
All in all I don't really think this game is comparable nor does it beling with the first two, as Rockstar turned it into something completety different. I wouldn't say it's better or worse, but I can say I'm enjoying the hell out of it.
Where did I ever say in my original post the difficulty was too high? I did the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game on normal ffs... All I did was complaining about the cheap mechanic used to create the difficulty.
I love how people sweep this kind of lame ♥♥♥♥ under the carpet and call it "challenge".
Before Max Payne 3, I played Sleeping Dogs. I enjoy story games. I enjoyed Sleeping Dog's story, and I kept playing because I wanted to see how the story would play out.
In contrast, I kept playing Max Payne 3 because I just couldn't wait for it to be over. The story was incoherent. I didn't know what was going on. It was just too painfully obvious that I was merely going from point A to point B to see some story.
The cutscenes were also bad because they kept doing these flashes and blurs and seeing double. It's like they are trying to mimic Payne being high or drunk. It was irritating and annoying.
Gameplay I guess it was ok. But I heard that Max Payne 2's bullet time increases whenever you kill an enemy in bullet time, making your bullet time almost last forever. That sounds cool. In Max Payne 3 however, bullet time does not increase if you kill people in it. There were times I felt pressured not to use it because I wanted to kill someone in normal time to recharge bullet time.
The only way I can recommend this game is when it goes on sale and is cheap, and you got money to burn. But otherwise, I just didn't enjoy the game.
and no one catches this but it you put a magazine in a dude's chest you quickly recharge your "bullet time" for immediate use. this creates great moments where you jump out, help the first guy don a 9mm blazer then put the remainder of the magazine in 3 other dude's slow mo suprised faces. near the end of the game it gets ridiculously easy because body armor also recharges slow mo. having trouble? blind fire more. dont camp and shoot for the chest.
AND FOR THE RECORD, THIS GAME HAS THE BEST PHYSICS ENGINE EVER PUT IN A VIDEOGAME. DONT LIKE IT? GO TO HELL!
best shooter game ever made. good luck finding this kind of awesomeness in an unreal powered game.
Can you debate on something without opening with an insult first? Because no one read what you have to say after that.
Compared to the original two the storyline is extremely weak, at least in those two we have personal motivation for protagonist, first one it was to catch his wife and child's killers, second one it was all about him and Mona Sax. Yet in MP 3 not only does he leave NYC for the weakest of reason's, he also has next to zero personal motivation in sticking around after the ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan.
The game was never a cover-based game, you ran into a room, activated slow-mo and cleaned it out, not sit there after a cut-scene and watch the NPC's run to cover while you're forced to wait, then proceed to duck and hide, picking off targets as they poke their heads outs.
Compared to the original gems by Remedy it's quite obvious that Rockstar don't quite get what made Max Payne a classic, hell we don't even get the comic book strips from the original two, in it's place we get this visual distortion that the developers well and truely over use, just as bad a J.J Abrams and his light flares.
If you changed the name of the game to 'Drunk man in South America' then I might not be so pissed off, but this is max payne and it's nothing like the original two.
