[FiX] for "Failed to Contact Key Server" Error [Confirmed Working]

For any of you getting the "Failed to Contact Key Server" error. I have a confirmed work around for it. On a side note, Rockstar/Steam is "NOT" out of cd keys. You already have your keys... the issue appears to be with DLC's.

////-Simple steps to start playing Max Payne 3-////

-I>Install "Rockstar Social Club" if you don't have it already.

--I>Start Steam.

---I>Open you Max Payne 3 folder. Located in "steam/steamapps/common/Max Payne 3"

----I>Rename the "dlc" folder to "dlc_bak"

----I>Create a new text document named "steam_appid" in the same directory as your MaxPayne3.exe. Open the newly created text file and enter 204100 into it and save.

---I>Start your game using the MaxPayne3.exe

--I>Once your game is loaded, open your in game steam menu by pressing shift+tab

-I>Click on the CD-Key link towards the top right. Now you can see all your keys that can be activated though Rockstar Social Club by pressing the Home key. Or by going to the store through the main menu.

note: DLC's are not needed to play. If you do register the DLC's, you may need to name your dlc_bak folder to just dlc again.

You must need to verify your game then. I'm playing it now :)

Works perfectly. If you crash on startup you need to verify you game cache.

I followed your instructions but the Social Club is asking the Max Payne 3 Activation code and if I check the CD-key link on the top right in Steam, then I got the same error message:
"Failed to Contact Key Server"

Without CD-key I can't play!

You can not start the game with the steam link until it's fixed. You need to use the Maxpayne3.exe in you Max Payne 3 folder.

I can confirm Season Pass activation is working using this method as well.

I used the Maxpayne3.exe but how should I do the last thing from your instruction:

after I click on the link I got same error message: "Failed to Contact Key Server"
